Hello! I would like to give a short introduction about myself. My name is Hope Edwards. I got into the Dogue De Bordeaux breed almost six years ago. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Science from the University of Oklahoma. I will be going back to school in the spring of 2010 to take the extra classes required to get into grad school.
I am a member of the AKC Oil Patch Agility Club and a member of the North American Bordeaux Federation. All my Bordeaux' are fully AKC and UKC registered.
Before owning the Bordeaux I owned multiple English Bulldogs and a English Mastiff. I have a huge soft spot for large breed dogs! I fell in love with this breed when I met Annie. I have learned a lot about this breed through doing research and owning them. I will never be without a Bordeaux again! They are very special to me. I do not tolerate people mistreating my dogs or their own.
All my dogs get along very well and they are all inside dogs. I have the firm belief that when you have a large breed dog they need to be inside and with you as much as possible. These are working dogs that were bred to guard property in France. I have seen many dogs that have been put outside and have become aggressive. This occurs because they are not with their owners and they are very frustrated.
I feed my dogs a combination of Diamond dog food and a raw food diet. I do not believe that dogs should be fed commercial food because it's simply not good for them much like going to eat fast food every day is not good for us.
Goals
First off these dogs are all members of my family meaning that I do not think of them just as "dogs." They are very special to me. I do everything I can to keep them healthy and happy. They are all very well socialized from the time they are puppies as I believe this is crucial to do when owning a large breed dog. I aim to show people that these guys are not just "lazy" as many large breed dogs are seen! They are all extremely active and we do things such as conformation, agility, therapy work, tracking, and narcotics detection!
